Spain and Portugal Correspondent/Latin Music Writer
Judy Cantor-Navas is a correspondent for Billboard Magazine in Spain and is currently a Latin Grammy Foundation fellow, having been awarded a 2019 Latin Grammy Research Grant for her documentary and preservation project about the pioneering Cuban record label Panart. She co-produced and wrote the liner notes for Concord Music/Craft Recordings’ September 2018 box set reissue of the legendary Panart Cuban Jam Session albums, recorded in 1950s Havana. As an independent music consultant and curator, Judy has structured digital Latin music catalogues and metadata and created playlists for companies including Google, Disney, Napster and MTV. Her work explores the social history of the Spanish-speaking world through its music and facilitates its contemporary rediscovery. Awards for Judy’s writing have also included a National Journalism Awards First Prize for Feature Writing (USA), Society of Professional Journalists’ Green Eyeshade prize for criticism and an Inter American Press Association Fellowship in Buenos Aires.
